Short of the week- Finn

From the start of the video it creates an emotional impact for the audience due to the intimacy of the imagery and the emotive sound of the music. The video is for the charity project alive and is about Finn who has hunters syndrome, a rare terminal genetic syndrome. The video is about parents coming to terms with the fact that the son is going to die and ultimately trying to share with others their story, so to promote research and funding for the disease so that other little boys can live. The only approved treatment available will keep him "comfortable" while he slowly loses all his physical and cognitive abilities.

"I think that there are a lot of unspokens that you expect when you become a parent. You expect your kids to outlive you..."

"I remember getting the phone call and getting this news the my son was dying. I just remember feeling completely paralysed. We are in a place of uncertainty with no control."

"I was grieving finn as if he was already gone."

"The idea of legacy is even bigger than it was before. we are pushing this sweet 3 year old to learn as much as he can, because we know he's gonna loose it."

"Researchers believe they have developed a cure but that the only thing standing in their way is money. He may be the first generation of boys that really have a cure or he may be part of the story where he brings the cure to the boys after him."

"We have to believe that theres more to his story."

Majority of the shots where shown with a small depth of field and a dark background. Because Finn was mostly in little clothing, his natural skin colour against the dark background and alongside the small depth of field helped to create a clear focus and focal point onto him. The slow movement of the camera and the effect of it going in and out of focus, helped to create an emotional impact to the imagery and for the audience. Alongside the non diegetic sound of the voiceover, which again helped to create an emotive feel.
