Gallery 26 at 27 Keswick cumbria showcases work from the artist Nelsonn who, hence the name of the gallery, produces work in a series of 26. Each of the 26 series are in different materials, have different styles and subject matter. His most current series is a selection of panoramas of the lakelands in oil paint on canvas's. As well as paintings he produces sculptures such as sheep and lakeland cottages. The gallery is open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm and entry is free.

His work intrigued me due to the colourful aspect of it, and in turn the intensity the colours create onto the image. The simplicity of them is also interesting to me, as they clearly display what they are with such minimalism. Each colour and stroke intertwines with each other and makes sure that the overall piece is structurally balanced and aesthetically pleasing.

His work relates to the context around him, and for the people who live there or are entering into that context, you can clearly relate to the images and the meanings and contextual factors behind them that correlate with the surroundings. I liked this sheep image as the direct gaze creates clear focus to the piece. Moreover the overall demeanour of the sheep is portrayed as friendly and innocent which is something that I connote when encountering sheep, furthermore it is often depicted that sheep or lambs are a symbolism of innocence.

His sculptures are captivating due to the details that each of them convey. I particularly like the silver sculpture of the couple due to its intensity. I think that you can make out the structure of their bodies, which heightens the idea of their love from them being so closely intertwined with each other. Additionally, the contrast between the flat edges and the textured clothing of the two figures creates an interesting structural juxtaposition between to two ends of the structure, and in turn creates an effective balance.
